A Smiling Star for Kids and Adults With Down Syndrome
When Mark and Victoria Tremonti welcomed their beautiful baby Stella, they knew she would change their lives, and maybe the world. Like a bright star, her story lit the way for a brand-new program to support babies, kids, adults and families who all have a little something extra.
Inspired by Stella’s sweet smile — and the Tremontis’ passion for the Down syndrome community through their charitable organization Take a Chance for Charity — AdventHealth for Children launched the first lifespan program in the Southeast for children and adults with Down syndrome, SMILE with Stella.
SMILE with Stella provides families with Support and Services, Music and Moving, Interventions and Inclusion, Love and Learning, and Encouragement and Expertise.
Together with the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS), AdventHealth for Children created this nationally leading, comprehensive program to support children and adults with Down syndrome and their families from pregnancy through adulthood.

Unique, Expert Care for Extra-Special Patients
Kids diagnosed with Down syndrome bring extra love and life to their families, and they may also have extra needs. Our Down syndrome program is in your family’s corner, from diagnosis — whether that occurs during pregnancy or at birth — through your child’s transition into adulthood. You’ll have the support of not only the Down syndrome community but also the expertise and compassionate care of our AdventHealth for Children team members.

Prenatal Care
During pregnancy, you and your baby will be cared for right from the start. Our Down syndrome program provides social work coordination, support liaison with your primary obstetric provider, a maternal-fetal medicine practitioner, parent education classes and cooperation with birth planning. We'll also assist you with referrals to specialists, fetal echoes and diagnostic testing. With a whole team by your side, you can await your bundle of joy with all the support you need.

Specialty Clinical Care
Our SMILE with Stella Tremonti Down Syndrome Clinic provides access to an experienced primary care provider, plus specialists like speech, occupational and physical therapists, dietitians, nutritionists and exercise pathologists. The clinic also serves as an education arm for families, offering classes and specialty programming like exercise and athletics. You’ll also be assigned a care coordinator and social worker, so you feel confident in the support we provide to your family at all stages of life.

Transition Into Adulthood
Through our Down syndrome program, we’ll help you make the best plan for your child as they become an adult. With guardianship tracks, continuing education and workforce integration, their future is bright.
Your Support Can Make a World of Difference
We know that a Down syndrome diagnosis can come with extra challenges, and we aim to help every patient and their loved ones feel fully supported. When you give to our SMILE with Stella Tremonti Down Syndrome Clinic, your support helps provide critical services that are not covered by insurance but are essential to creating a supportive and loving environment for our patients and families.
