AdventHealth, one of the nation’s largest faith-based health care systems, will rename AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center Bolingbrook, AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center GlenOaks, AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center Hinsdale and AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center La Grange as it completes the unwinding of its AMITA Health partnership. The hospitals will now be managed and operated solely by AdventHealth and will begin to be rebranded AdventHealth Bolingbrook, AdventHealth GlenOaks, AdventHealth Hinsdale and AdventHealth La Grange. In addition, physician practices affiliated with the facilities will be renamed AdventHealth Medical Group. The new names reflect AdventHealth’s national brand that consumers can easily identify and connect.
“We are excited to rebrand the operations of our hospitals in Chicagoland and operate as a fully integrated and distinguishable health system across all aspects of the care continuum,” said Terry Shaw, AdventHealth president/CEO. “We will continue to serve the community with a focus on whole-person care and making access easy and convenient for our consumers.”
AdventHealth has appointed Thor Thordarson as president/CEO for the Great Lakes Region of AdventHealth, which includes the facilities and medical groups in Illinois. Thordarson previously served as AMITA Health’s chief operating officer and began his career as a nurse.
“It’s a privilege to lead our teams and caregivers who are united by our mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ to provide clinically excellent, consumer-centric care. I look forward to engaging our medical staff, clinicians, team members, partners and all of our consumers to have an even greater impact and make our communities healthier,” said Thordarson.
Last year, AdventHealth and Ascension decided to dissolve their joint operating company, AMITA Health. The two organizations will now operate their individual hospitals and care sites, and maintain a strong relationship united in ensuring the residents of Chicago have access to the best possible health care.
