AdventHealth South Overland Park today celebrated the start of construction on the 193,000 square-foot, 85-bed inpatient hospital designed to provide patients with access to a full suite of hospital and emergency services.
The new building expands upon the emergency services, medical offices and imaging already available and serving patients at the South Overland Park location. The growing campus will include a new birth center, surgical services, intensive care unit, heart care and more. The expansion will generate approximately 200 full-time equivalent jobs. Construction is expected to be complete in late 2021.
“AdventHealth South Overland Park has been part of the Bluhawk and surrounding community for more than two and a half years,” said Sam Huenergardt, president and CEO of the Mid-American Region of AdventHealth. “Our team is excited to serve patients in this area with a growing list of services – all with comprehensive, compassionate care focused on the whole person.”
AdventHealth South Overland Park opened in 2017, and currently includes a 24/7 emergency department, imaging, dedicated women’s imaging center, laboratory and a medical office building with primary care, physical therapy and physician specialties including cardiology, neurosurgery, endocrinology, gastroenterology and dermatology.
“The expansion of the AdventHealth South Overland Park campus is an important opportunity for us to continue our mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ to a growing community,” said Robin Harrold, vice president of ambulatory network for AdventHealth Shawnee Mission. “Our goal is to meet patients where they need us, and we are thrilled to be able to offer additional and advanced services at this location.
