PALM COAST, Fla., June 17, 2016 On May 17, Palm Coast Mayor Jon Netts and the City Council of Palm Coast declared May 19 as Palm Coast City Employees Heart Healthy Day.
We want to help our residents in this county and your employees get well and stay well, said JoAnne King, Florida Hospital Flagler chief operating officer. We want to engage with your staff and help them gain knowledge of their own health status and empower them to make proactive choices for their own health.
In celebration of this proclamation, Florida Hospital Flagler provided free health screenings to the City of Palm Coasts employees on May 19.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that nearly 30 million United States citizens have been diagnosed with heart disease and 47 percent of Americans have at least one risk factor, both of which could cause serious hardships for the employees and their families. However, steps can be taken to lower the risks and, through the partnership between Palm Coast Parks and Recreation Department and Florida Hospital Flagler, these steps are being taken.
