Gordon Hospitals Melissa Davis, RN, was recognized with a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. This award is part of the DAISY Foundation's program to recognize the super-human tasks nurses perform every day.
I feel extremely honored and blessed to have received this award, said Davis. I love my sweet patients.
Davis, who has worked at Gordon Hospital for 10 years, is a nurse in the hospitals The Baby Place.
Its nurses like Melissa (who is honestly one-of-a-kind) who make Gordon Hospital one of the top-ranked hospitals, said Tasha Bunch, who nominated Davis. I cannot thank her enough.
Davis graduated from Southern Adventist University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She and her husband, Jason, reside in Calhoun with their children, Sophia and Logan. Her interests include puzzles, beach trips, shopping, and spending time with her family.
If you or a loved one have been a patient at Gordon Hospital and would like to nominate an extraordinary nurse for the DAISY Award, call Call706-602-7800 x2258.

About the DAISY Foundation
The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation is based in Glen Ellen, California, and was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. (DAISY is an acronym for diseases attacking the immune system.) The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
