At Florida Hospital DeLand, an employee is selected annually as the Hero of the Year for going above and beyond, whether its with patients, families or throughout everyday life. The employee is selected from among 12 team members, all of whom were awarded as a Hero of the Month throughout the year.
Castellanos originally received the Hero of the Month award in April.
Johanna won this award for taking the time to find patients belongings after they've left the hospital and then delivering these personal items to patients on her way home from work, said Sheryl Schaefer, Florida Hospital DeLand clinical nurse manager for the medical and oncology unit.
