Gordon Hospital recently presented the "George Seddon He Works through Me Award" to Chaplain Dave Smith, which recognizes an employee for best reflecting the hospitals mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ and exemplifying the ministry style of Jesus.
The "George Seddon He Works through Me Award," is named after Gordon Hospitals beloved long-time pharmacist George Seddon, who lost his battle with cancer in 2012. Seddon was an outstanding individual that lived Gods word and Gordon Hospitals mission on a daily basis.
At Gordon Hospital, we are called to extend the healing ministry of Christ, and Chaplain Dave does this each and every day, said Pete Weber, president and CEO of Gordon Hospital. We are pleased to recognize him for his work in fulfilling our mission.
Smith has been pastoring Seventh-day Adventist churches and hospitals for over 40 years and has served as Gordon Hospital's chaplain-health educator for 15 years. During this time, he has led the hospitals Breathe Free program, which has an 85 percent success rate at helping people quit smoking since 2006. He was the recipient of the D.O.V.E Leadership Award in 2015, which stands for dedicated, open minded, value-driven, and encouraging.
Smith and his wife of more than 40 years, Cheryl, have two adult children and four grandchildren.
