Clarice Avery, RN, has been awarded Gordon Hospitals prestigious Extra Mile Award.
This special award was created by members of the hospitals Employee Engagement Committee to recognize employees who go above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis. It is awarded monthly to deserving employees selected by the hospitals directors.
She currently serves as a lead charge nurse for Gordon Hospitals medical-surgical department.
"I am honored, and humbled, to receive this award," said Avery, who has been employed by Gordon Hospital for nearly twenty years. "When you love the people you work with, you look forward to coming to work every day. I am thankful to each and every person I have come in contact with over the last 19 years, as they have been a blessing to my life in their own way."
"She serves as charge nurse on med-surg, relief supervisor, and she also works in interventional radiology. She is always helpful to all nurses under her charge," said Retha Mcray, house supervisor at Gordon Hospital. "Our patients love her, and she is always the first to help out; the load is never too heavy. She leads by example on a daily basis."
"I consider the employees here to be a part of my family," said Avery. "When you do what you love, time flies, and I cannot believe I have been living my dream of being a nurse at Gordon Hospital for 19 years."
Residing in Calhoun, Avery and her husband Brian have two daughters, Bailee, 14, and Marlee, 11. She enjoys fishing, camping, hunting, and being with her family.
