The Highlands County Board of County Commissioners along with the Sun n Lake Board of Supervisors and AdventHealth dedicated the property where the new Sun n Lake EMS-Fire Station will be built. This project is the result of a partnership with the Sun n Lake Improvement District and AdventHealth.
The Sun n Lake Improvement District donated $100,000 and AdventHealth Sebring Medical Center participated by allowing the County to exchange land, which will allow the new station to be built in an excellent location to better serve all of the area residents.
This project is a perfect example of community partnership, said County Administrator June Fisher.
The community stakeholders came together with a good plan to benefit the community as a whole, said Board of County Commissioners Chairperson Jim Brooks.
We have been working on this project for several years. I am glad to finally see it close to realization, said County Commissioner Ron Handley, liaison to the Sun n Lake Improvement District.
The new Sun n Lake EMS-Fire Station will total of 4,500 square feet, four bays for EMS and fire vehicles, and five bunk rooms for staff. It will also feature a kitchen and living quarters, as well as an office. It will be concrete block construction with a stucco finish and will be topped off with a metal roof.
The next steps in this project include going to through the bidding process, approval of a contract and finally construction beginning in 2017. For more information about this project, please contact the Highlands County Board of County Commissioners at Call863-402-6833.
