A message from the Director
National need: With the growing shortage of obstetric providers nationally, family physicians are well equipped to fill the increasing gap in maternity care (including cesarean sections) and women’s health services. For those family physicians practicing in underserved, academic and rural areas provision of maternity care services may be essential.
Mission: Our mission is to provide advanced knowledge and skills in women’s health and maternity care. During this fellowship, we will provide you with a solid foundation to continue your family medicine skills, grow family medicine teachers, and teach advanced skills including cesarean sections.
Philosophy: The lives of women will only become better when professional training imbues a holistic, comprehensive strategy for caring for women. An optimal comprehensive training program in women’s healthcare is best achieved in a robust multidisciplinary setting that nurtures excellence in educational innovation, clinical care, research endeavors, advocacy for patients, and mentorship.
