The Baby Place Academy®: Education and Support
Our team is here to prepare you for pregnancy, childbirth and beyond with classes led by registered nurses and certified parent educators. Expecting moms and partners across Central Florida can gain confidence going into parenthood with classes at The Baby Place Academy.

- Breastfeeding 101

This class provides expert advice and specific instructions on how to get a good start to breastfeeding. You’ll learn the science behind breastfeeding and become familiar with the basics of how to feed your baby. We will walk you through, step by step, the process of how to get a good latch and ways to troubleshoot.

- Coping and Comfort

This class prepares expecting parents for labor by providing them with the non-pharmacological pain management tools commonly used for coping with labor. We will practice key techniques for breath, movement, touch, and vocalization, and share tips for partners. This experiential session will give you the toolkit you need for delivery day.

- Early Pregnancy Preparations

The perfect introductory class to take in your first trimester. This class is a roadmap to a typical pregnancy journey where we will walk you through all the key milestones.

- Newborn Care

This class is designed to help new parents navigate the infamous “Fourth Trimester” of a baby’s life. You will become familiar with the wide spectrum of normal newborn behavior and learn the ins-and-outs of practical baby care (like how to bath, diaper, swaddle, and soothe, to name a few).

- Labor Induction 101

This class provides an overview of how your body prepares for labor and how induction fits into your labor and delivery process. You will gain an understanding of common induction methods, and what to expect.

- Prenatal Education Bootcamp

This class focuses on the stages of labor, delivery, and the basics of common medical interventions to help you make informed decisions. We will answer all your questions about laboring, timing contractions, and going to the birthing facility. We will also talk about late pregnancy health and postpartum strategies to help you achieve a satisfactory pregnancy.

- Perinatal Mental Health Class

This class provides you with a better understanding of potential mental health issues and risk factors during pregnancy and after birth. We will discuss how you can distinguish between baby blues vs. more serious mental health issues, and how to get help. We will also share key strategies for practicing self-care and building a support system that promote emotional well being.

- Perinatal Movement and Mindfulness

This class will guide you through breathwork + movement that will open and strengthen your mind, body, and heart. Not only will it help you better connect with your body and your baby, but it will also provide you with the tools you need to thrive during pregnancy, labor + birth.
This prenatal yoga class is open to all levels and requires just a yoga mat. Yoga blocks and props are welcome but not necessary.

- In Person: Birth and Baby Basics Supplement Class

Registration for a Virtual Birthly class is required to be eligible for the in-person supplement class. A Birth Coordinator will contact you to register and schedule this free in-person class.
In our hands on class, parents have the opportunity to practice what they learned in their virtual class including using comfort measure tools, practicing labor positions, and a review of the full process of labor and delivery. Attendees will also practice baby basics like burping, swaddling and diaper changing. There will also be a review of foundational breastfeeding knowledge with an opportunity to practice breastfeeding holds and positions.

Daytona Mommy Group (Postpartum Support)
Connect with other moms to share the joys and challenges of new motherhood. Our Mommy Group is FREE and open to ALL pregnant women and moms with babies. This group offers mom an opportunity to learn about her newborn, make new friends and gain support from other moms and AdventHealth for Women: Daytona Beach Parent Educators. At each meeting our group leaders provide a warm and comforting environment where mothers can come together to discuss issues they may be having with infant feeding, ask questions, share stories and most importantly, encourage each other along the parenting journey.
Time and Location: Join us every Wednesday from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at The South Ormond Neighborhood Center, located on Division Street in Ormond Beach.
